“I wonder whether many wander within their minds within this space.”

Join Lytisha as her mind wanders through a whole host of ideas whilst she is inside the MRI scanner. She examines the important questions in life – What did Concorde’s nose sound like? Can mental dancing affect a scan? What flavour ice-cream should she have next? All the big questions. Surrounded by the sounds of the scanner we are led on an unexpected journey.
When and where can I experience it?

About the artist
The experience was written and designed by Lytisha Tunbridge; a Nottingham based poet. This Virtual Reality prototype was developed in partnership with the LEADD:NG team at the University of Nottingham. Supported by Arts Council England project grant funding.

Lytisha is a writer that lives with Multiple Sclerosis. As part of the monitoring of her condition she has periodic MRI scans. This piece was written after her second scan in 2016. The poem then evolved into a score with the help of Contemporary Music for All – East Midlands and the resultant experiential piece was performed at both the National COMA Festival and Nottingham Poetry Festival in 2019.
Through 2020/21 Lytisha undertook training in AR & VR skills through the LEADD:NG programme and was able to see the artistic possibilities, culminating in the development of this evolution of A Journey Inside as a Virtual Reality experience.
Lytisha has received Arts Council England funding to support the design and development of this project. The LEADD:NG project was supported by European Development Funding.
